1997 – 2001    Huber + Suhner, Inc., Essex Jct., VT - Huber+Suhner is an international manufacturer of RF cable assemblies and connectors for wireless communications.

                  Production Manager

Implemented workflow, visual aids, training and tooling improvements to increase proficiency from 55% to 85%.

Increased production capacity 50% through capital equipment acquisition and layout improvements.

            Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Implemented X-Y-Z soldering robot to increase throughput, eliminate manual soldering inconsistencies and improve product quality by reducing field failures.

Specified, procured and installed high speed automation equipment to produce RF Connectors at 30 parts/minute run rate.

Implemented KanBan, production line layout and tooling to increase throughput on cable assembly production lines.

Developed processes and cost estimates for new designs to maximize profit.

Achieved 30% capacity increase on new production line layout using 1 piece flow.

Initiated 7 step problem solving training and implementation teams to increase proficiency.

Designed and developed catheter device and manufacturing process; achieved 50% cost reduction through manufacturing improvements.

Research and Development Engineer 1993 – 1995

Designed and developed innovative device components to reduce cost and improve manufacturability.

Developed processes and tooling for devices, scaled up and transferred to manufacturing.

Qualified/ Validated custom high volume automation equipment.

Designed and developed catheter device used by physicians. Rapid, concurrent design and development cycle completed on time to support marketing launch.

 Manufacturing Engineer 1992 – 1993

Developed tooling and processing methods for product components and assembly.

Increased production capacity through process and tooling improvements.

 

1988 – 1992    Hygeia Sciences, Newton, MA  - Hygeia produced the market leading First Response home pregnancy test kit and other medical diagnostic tests.

Development Engineer

Provided design, materials, molding and manufacturing technologies to research, develop and market consumer medical diagnostic test kits including the One Step First Response home pregnancy test kit.

Developed effective designs and manufacturing processes using AutoCAD, machine shop and rapid prototyping technology.

Designed injection molded devices critical to test performance and automated assembly.

Designed and constructed prototype machinery and was liaison to manufacturing to facilitate transfer of production into automated assembly.
